Gosia Kamieniecka comes from the north-east of Poland. She moved to Ireland in 2005 and realized a life long dream to study fine art when she attended GMIT in Galway, graduating with a BA degree in 2014.
Gosia's work predominantly addresses her personal existence within time and space in the medium of painting using original sources and images. Her introduction to sculpture in the Galway Mayo Technical Institute broadened her interest in 3D forms and in the border-line between painting and sculpture.
Gosia doesn't look for clear connections between her works, each one is a whole new story, an attempt to revolutionize herself. For her it's rather an attraction to something or quasi-mistical impulse that leads her to make art. Her work is about expressing her own experience, about living a conscious life and creating an awareness of existence in the other.
Recently Gosia's main practice is in painting, but she has a keen interest in working with sound and other media.
Gosia is currently a member of the Artspace Studios in Galway.
In addition to being a visual artist Gosia is also a talented singer who has been part of a variety of musical projects and features on a number of recordings. Most notably she was the lead vocalist for 'The Bahh Band' which blended the traditional improvisational form of Indian Ragas with western influences.
